Deli Wheel – Available from the deli counter in a cut to size format the Leerdammer® wheel is where it all starts.

Slices:

Original – The slices are ultra convenient and offer a quick and easy way to transform your sandwich or snack into something extra special.

Lightlife – The same great taste but with 40% less fat than the original slices, a lighter way to transform your sandwich or snack.

Mature – Matured for longer to give an intense smooth and creamy taste.

Block:

Original – Cut from the wheel the deliciously smooth and creamy taste of Leerdammer® in a versatile block.

Lightlife – A lighter way to enjoy Leerdammer® in a convenient block format that’s ideal for snacks or for use in cooking.

Mature – The distinctive taste of Leerdammer® matured for longer. The rich flavour makes this block ideal for cooking or an indulgent snack.

Healthy Alternatives – Leerdammer® has light varieties of all its main formats, containing 40% less fat than Leerdammer® Original and 50% less fat than cheddar.

The tradition of Leerdammer®

While the Leerdammer® brand was not officially born until 1977, its history is much older. It began nearly a century ago with two entrepreneurial Dutch men who would become two big names in the cheese-making industry.

A Stunningly Successful Cheese

In 1914, Cees Boterkooper bought a small dairy in Schoonrewoerd, a rural town located close to Leerdam. At the same time, entrepreneur Bastiaan Baars was running a cheese distribution business in a neighbouring village. The paths of the cheese maker and the merchant eventually crossed in 1970. Soon after, they decided to work together to create a new kind of cheese that would be different from the famous Gouda and Emmental cheeses. This is how the Leerdammer® wheel was born.

Today Leerdammer® is the European leader in semi-hard cheese, and is available in a full range of formats, some traditional (pre-packed blocks and cuts from the deli) and some more suited to the requirements of contemporary living (slices)
